Evergreen Services will shut down the boiler and isolate the domestic hot-water supply to the Weil-McLain indirect water heater. The hot-water piping will be drained to a safe working level, and the defective thermostatic mixing valve will be removed.
A new properly sized domestic hot-water mixing valve will be installed and connected to the hot-water, cold-water, and tempered-water piping. Any necessary fittings and seals will be replaced to provide secure, watertight connections.
After installation, the domestic water supply will be restored, and all connections will be inspected for leaks. The new mixing valve will be adjusted to deliver approximately 120°F water at the fixtures, then tested at multiple faucets to verify stable temperature regulation. The boiler and indirect water heater will be operated through a complete cycle to confirm proper performance and help protect the customer from excessively hot water and potential scalding.
Evergreen Services will isolate and shut down the boiler, allow the system to cool, and drain the heating system to a safe working level. The compromised expansion tank will be removed and replaced with a properly sized new expansion tank. The new tank will be pre-charged to match the system’s cold-fill pressure.
The existing boiler pressure-relief valve will also be removed and replaced with a properly rated new safety valve. All connections will be sealed, and the discharge piping will be reconnected according to applicable safety requirements.
After installation, the boiler will be refilled and purged of air. Evergreen Services will inspect all connections for leaks, verify stable operating pressure, test the boiler through a complete heating cycle, and confirm that the new expansion tank and relief valve are operating properly.
