Evergreen Services arrived on site in response to the customer’s concern regarding the condensate pump on a 90% forced-hot-air Lennox gas furnace located in the basement. Upon arrival, the system was inspected and the furnace wiring, electrical connections, condensate components, drain tubing, and related equipment were checked for any visible signs of damage, loose connections, blockage, or improper operation. The condensate pump was tested through operation and was confirmed to be activating and draining properly at this time.
The condensate drain line and flow were also tested to verify that water was moving freely through the system. No blockage, restriction, backup, or abnormal condensate buildup was found during today’s inspection. The pump, drain line, and furnace condensate system are currently operating within acceptable conditions. A general visual inspection of the furnace components was also completed. No obvious burnt, damaged, chewed, or loose wiring was observed during today’s visit. Based on the testing performed, the system is currently operating acceptably. Evergreen Services also provided the customer with an option for a more comprehensive deep-cleaning and preventive-maintenance service. This service would include removal and cleaning of accessible furnace components and buildup, cleaning of the burner and combustion areas as applicable, removal of accumulated dust and debris, inspection of the flame-sensing and ignition components, inspection of the condensate system, and verification of proper furnace operation after cleaning. As part of the recommended service, carbon monoxide and combustion-safety testing would also be performed while the furnace is operating to help verify that combustion products are being properly vented and that the equipment is operating safely within acceptable parameters. In addition, sediment removal/maintenance was recommended for the indirect domestic hot-water tank. Over time, mineral deposits and sediment can accumulate inside the tank and reduce heat-transfer efficiency, contribute to longer recovery times, and place additional stress on the equipment. Servicing the indirect tank would help remove accumulated sediment and support continued efficient operation. At the time of today’s inspection, no active condensate pump failure or drainage restriction was found. The furnace and condensate system were operating acceptably. Preventive deep cleaning, carbon monoxide/combustion testing, and indirect water-heater sediment maintenance were recommended to help maintain overall system performance and reliability.
Evergreen Services – Flame Sensor Replacement. Evergreen Services recommends replacement of the flame sensor on the Lennox ML193UH090XP36C-58 90% forced-hot-air natural gas furnace located in the basement. The flame sensor is an important safety component that confirms the presence of a proper burner flame after ignition. Once the burners light, the sensor sends a flame-rectification signal back to the furnace control board. If the sensor becomes dirty, corroded, weak, or fails to produce a reliable signal, the furnace may ignite and then shut back down within a few seconds, repeatedly attempt ignition, or eventually lock out on a flame-related fault. Replacement service will include shutting off electrical power and gas to the furnace, removing the burner compartment access panel, locating and removing the existing flame sensor, inspecting the sensor mounting area and wiring connection, and installing the correct replacement flame sensor for this Lennox furnace. The burner area and sensor location will be inspected for rust, carbon buildup, corrosion, or debris that could interfere with proper flame sensing. The sensor wire and connection back to the control board will also be checked for a secure connection and any visible damage.
After installation, the furnace will be restored to operation and tested through a complete heating cycle. Operation will be verified through the ignition sequence, including inducer startup, pressure-switch closure, igniter operation, gas-valve activation, burner ignition, and flame-proving sequence.
The new flame sensor will be monitored to confirm that the control board consistently recognizes the burner flame and keeps the gas valve energized during normal operation. Burner flame quality and furnace shutdown operation will also be checked.
Replacing a deteriorated or unreliable flame sensor helps prevent nuisance shutdowns, repeated ignition attempts, intermittent no-heat conditions, and furnace lockouts while helping maintain dependable and safe heating.
