Evergreen Services arrived on site in response to the customer’s complaint that the standing pilot on the 80% efficient HydroTherm gas-fired boiler, located in the basement closet, repeatedly goes out. Inspected the system wiring, pilot assembly, and related components. The thermocouple was found to be significantly corroded, which may prevent it from properly sensing the pilot flame and maintaining gas flow to the pilot. Recommend replacing the thermocouple and testing the pilot safety circuit and boiler operation after installation.
Evergreen Services will shut down the gas and electrical supply to the 80% efficient forced-hot-water gas boiler, remove the defective gas valve, and install a properly rated replacement. All gas connections will be secured and leak-tested. The pilot assembly, thermocouple, system wiring, and safety controls will be inspected. After installation, the boiler will be restarted and tested through a complete heating cycle to confirm proper ignition, burner operation, gas pressure, and safe system performance.
